The Human Skills Advantage: What Great Leaders Need in an AI World
Session Description
AI is taking on more of the day-to-day work, and that's changing what leadership actually requires. Good judgment and critical thinking aren't going anywhere, but the AI era is asking leaders to build on them in ways most haven't had to before. This session is about what that looks like in practice: understanding the systems well enough to lead them rather than just delegate to them, seeing where the real points of leverage and risk sit as more of the work runs on its own, and deciding, on purpose, where human judgment still has to be the one making the call. The pace of change here doesn't leave room for a one-time fix. Leading well means treating this as continual adaptation, an ongoing practice rather than a single initiative with an end date.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework for leading mixed teams of people and AI, grounded in real questions to ask, real boundaries to set, and real ways to keep judgment where it belongs as more of the work becomes automated.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-
Understand what technical fluency they need to lead AI and agent-driven systems, even without being hands-on themselves, and recognize where the real risk in those systems tends to live.
-
See the organization as a whole system that now includes both people and automated processes, so they can recognize where a small failure in one part could ripple into something much bigger.
-
Codify where and how human judgment gets applied on their team, turning something usually left to instinct into a clear, repeatable standard.
